TROLL PLATFORMER
NOPE!

Everything looks safe. Nothing is.

A tiny square, a door to reach, and scenery that lies. The floor gives way, spikes pop out, doors play pretend. You're going to die. A lot. And you'll restart right away.

Sneaky, never unfair

The scenery lies. The rules never do.

  1. Nothing is random

On every try, the trap goes off at the same place and the same moment. What you learn stays true.

  2. A death makes sense afterwards

The first one surprises you. The next one teaches you. The cause always ends up clear.

  3. No downtime

No screen to dismiss between tries, no lives, no forced ads: you die, you restart.

A new trick each level

Each level fits on a screen or two and brings its own bad idea. The first death surprises you, the next one teaches you, and the trap finally makes sense. It always happens the same way: nothing is random.

  • Vanishing floors

A tile that looks like all the others, until you step on it.

  • Flames and spikes

What was empty a second ago isn't anymore. The danger shows up, then keeps its shape.

  • Trampolines and swings

Springs, spinning saws and swings you have to catch at the right moment.

  • Teleporters

Step in on one side, come out somewhere else, and maybe not where you hoped.

  • Fake doors

The exit is right there. Well, an exit. Look for the small red "×" before celebrating.

  • Pressure plates

A button that sets something off. But what, and where?

Hover a tile. Or don't.

Die fast, restart instantly

Dying is fast and restarting is instant: no screen to dismiss, no timer on your patience, no lives. The level doesn't adapt to your failures and never changes behind your back. If you lost, you just hadn't figured it out yet.

  • Instant restart, as many tries as it takes
  • Traps always happen at the same place and the same moment
  • Short levels made for "one more try"
  • A death counter, so you own it

Hand-made levels with a jagged difficulty

No polite curve: a very hard level can be followed by an almost kind one, before the scenery goes back to its bad habits. Levels are hand-made, from "Straight ahead." to "what is even happening", and more are on the way.

  • 01Straight ahead.
  • 02You learn too fast.
  • 03One more screen.
  • 04Easy does it.
  • 05Don't panic.
  • 06Take your time.
  • 07Almost.
  • 08Just a moment.
  • 09Feeling cramped.

Stuck? We'll help

After a few deaths on a level you can ask to see the solution: a ghost plays it right before your eyes, then you try it yourself. And if a level really gets on your nerves, you can skip it.

  • "Show the solution": the route is replayed by a transparent ghost
  • "Skip this level" to move on with no hard feelings
  • Never mandatory: you can do everything without help

Your character, your way to die

Pick your look (Temp worker, Intern, Skeleton, Mint, Animatronic bear…) and your death effect: blue ink, confetti, pixels. A "No blood" effect exists for sensitive players. Cosmetics never change the gameplay.

NOPE!, the troll platformer where every trap is a lesson

NOPE! is a hard, funny platformer made for phones in landscape mode. You guide a small white square to a door through very short levels where everything that looks safe isn't: collapsing floors, spikes and flames popping out, fake doors, teleporters, pressure plates, spinning saws.

The game is built on fair play: traps always happen at the same place and the same moment, with no randomness. A death may surprise you, but it makes sense afterwards, and restarting is instant, with no lives to lose and no screen to dismiss. Difficulty is deliberately uneven, from an almost easy level to a cruel one.

All 33 levels are hand-made. If you get stuck, the app can replay the solution right before your eyes or let you skip the level. You can also customize your character and death effect, with no impact on gameplay. The game is free to start, with no account, no subscription and no ads, and works offline.

NOPE! frequently asked questions

What is NOPE! and how do you play?

It's a troll platformer in landscape: you move a square to the door with three buttons (left, right, jump). Each level hides a trap that kills you at least once before you figure it out.

Are the traps unfair or random?

No. Traps always happen at the same place and the same moment, with no randomness, and the level doesn't adapt to your failures. A death may surprise you, but its cause becomes clear afterwards.

How many levels are there, and are they all hard?

There are 33 hand-made levels, with more on the way. Difficulty is uneven: a very hard level can be followed by an almost easy one.

What if I'm stuck on a level?

Is NOPE! free, and does it have ads?

You can start playing for free, with no account or subscription, and the game has no ads. A single purchase unlocks the rest, and optional cosmetics (characters, death effects) never change the gameplay.

Can I play offline, and what comfort options are there?

Yes, the game works offline. You can resize the buttons and adjust their opacity, turn vibration off, enable reduced motion and disable screen shake.

Where can I download NOPE!?
