PromptrGo is an Android teleprompter for creators (full-screen reading and a floating window) published by Clearforge Studio. This page explains what data the app uses, why, and what choices you have.
Publisher and contact: Clearforge Studio — [email protected]. You can write to this address with any question about your data or to exercise your rights.
1. What the app keeps on your phone
Your scripts (title and text), your reading progress and your settings (speed, font, line height, width, alignment, mirror, opacity, theme, language) are stored in the app's private storage, on your device. The content of your scripts is sent to no service and is not written to the app's logs. Android's automatic backup is turned off for the app. This data is deleted when you delete a script or uninstall the app.
The app also keeps a few local counters, for example the number of finished readings, used only to decide when to offer to rate the app (never during a reading). They never leave your device.
2. What we do not collect
We do not ask for your name, e-mail address, location or contacts. PromptrGo has no built-in camera and asks for no camera or microphone permission: it films and records nothing. We do not use any analytics or crash-reporting tool that identifies you.
3. Floating window and foreground service
To show your script above your camera app, Android requires the "Display over other apps" permission. PromptrGo asks for it only when you choose floating mode, from the dedicated button. It is used only to display your text: the app reads neither the content of other apps nor your screen. While the window is active, a persistent notification is shown, as Android requires for a foreground service. You can close the window or remove the permission at any time in Android settings; full-screen mode remains available.
4. File import and sharing
When you import a file (.txt, .md, .docx or .odt) or receive text from another app, it is read on your device to create a script: it is not uploaded. Sharing a script or a support message goes through Android's share sheet, to the app you choose.
You can also export a script as a .txt file or back up your whole library to a .json file. The file is created on your device and is sent only to the app or service you pick in the share sheet (Drive, e-mail, messaging…): we have no access to it. Restoring a backup simply reads the file on your device.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version shows a banner on the home screen through Google AdMob, never during a reading session and with no full-screen ads. To serve it, Google may collect and use your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app information (model, OS version, interactions with ads) and an approximate location derived from your IP address. See Google's policy.
In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the app asks for your consent (Google UMP form) before loading an ad, and you can change it in the settings. No ad is loaded until the state of your purchase could be checked, nor with the Pro version. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings (Settings › Privacy › Ads).
6. Pro purchase (Google Play, RevenueCat)
If you buy Pro (a one-time purchase that removes ads), payment is handled by Google Play: we never see or keep your payment details. We use RevenueCat to check that the purchase is active: RevenueCat receives an anonymous user ID and purchase information, along with the technical information inherent to any connection (for example the IP address and device model), but not your name, your e-mail or your scripts. See RevenueCat's policy. Every reading feature stays free.
7. Google Play services
The app may use Google Play services to check whether an update is available and to offer to rate the app. Google processes these exchanges under its own privacy policy.
8. Legal bases, retention and transfers
Legal bases. Ads served by Google rely on your consent where the law requires it (European Economic Area, United Kingdom); checking the Pro purchase relies on the performance of the contract (your purchase). Running the app with your scripts requires no processing of personal data by us.
Retention. Your local data stays on your device until you delete it; we keep nothing on our own servers. Google and RevenueCat keep the data they process according to their own policies.
Transfers outside the European Union. Google and RevenueCat may process data outside the European Union, notably in the United States, under the safeguards they describe in their documents (standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision).
9. Children
PromptrGo is not aimed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (notably in the European Union, under the GDPR), you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to and port your data, and you can withdraw your consent to advertising at any time (app settings › Ad consent). Because we do not keep personal data on our servers, there is no account to delete. For any question or request about your data, write to [email protected]. For data processed by Google or RevenueCat, you can also contact them directly. You may also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of your country (in France, the CNIL).
11. Changes
We may update this page, for example if the app changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
